Real Madrid targets Mbappe’s alternative

  German press reports revealed that Real Madrid has turned to Bayern Munich star Serge Gnabry, after missing out on a deal for Kylian Mbappe. According to the German newspaper “Bild”, Gnabri may become Real Madrid’s alternative during the summer Mercato, in order to strengthen its offensive line, especially after theclubs missed out to sign Mbappe from Paris Saint-Germain. The newspaper added that the task of Madrid in obtaining the service of the Bavarian player will be somewhat easy, especially since his contract expires in the summer of 2023. Gnabri has not reached an agreement with his club to renew his contract so far, and Bayern Munich may consider selling him this summer so that he does not leave for free. The 26-year-old played with Bayern Munich this season, and appeared in 45 games in the various competitions, scoring 17 goals and providing 10 assists.

UEFA Champions League Final Ball to be auctioned for UNHCR

Adidas announced on Tuesday that the ball used for the UEFA Champions League final between Liverpool and Real Madrid will be auctioned after the match with the proceeds going to the UN refugee agency (UNHCR). The German sportswear company, Adidas, said the white and silver ball will be engraved with the word ‘PEACE’ written on the match ball, directly below the Cyrillic word ‘mir,’ which also means peace will not be offered for sale to the public. The Champions League final will be played at the Stade de France on 28 May between England’s Liverpool FC and the Spanish champions Real Madrid in Paris, after earlier this year, it was moved from its original location to the Russian city of St. Petersburg due to the Russian-Ukrainian War.

Malmo fans offer Ibrahimovic's nose at auction!

Angry Swedish football fans are auctioning replicas of the sawn-off nose of a Zlatan Ibrahimovic statue to protest against the commercialization of the sport and what they perceive as the star's betrayal. Bids on the website eBay hit $610 (€568) on Tuesday. The lifesize bronze statue of the Swedish superstar, erected in his hometown of Malmo in 2019, has been the target of numerous attacks since he invested in Stockholm-based football club Hammarby in November 2019, angering supporters of Malmo FF, the club where he began his professional career. The statue's nose was sawn off in December 2019, with the feet going the following month, causing it to collapse against the barrier protecting it. Malmo FF fans said they had put three replicas of the original nose -- which is still missing -- up for auction "because choosing money over love can cost you dearly".Ibrahimovic "chose money over love of his hometown and the club where he began his career", they wrote on the specially-created website www.vararnasan.se, Swedish for "where is the nose"."Football was originally a mass movement, but it has increasingly turned into a hyper-commercialized mass industry, where fans are seen as consumers and players and clubs are treated like merchandise", they wrote. The sellers said they planned to use the profits from the auction in efforts to combat "modern and commercial football and promote a sport where the focus is on love for the clubs and the game".The artist who made the bronze sculpture, Peter Linde, was upset about the auction." The sellers complain that football is turning the game into big business, but they themselves are making money off a crime", he told daily Sydsvenskan. Ibrahimovic, who is currently 40 years old, began his football career in the age groups of Malmo, where he was born, and made his way to the first team in 1999, before starting his travels abroad by joining Ajax. After Ajax, Ibrahimovic began his journey between many major European clubs, starting with Juventus and Inter, passing through Barcelona and Milan for the first time, then Paris Saint-Germain and Manchester United, before returning to “Rossoneri” in 2020 after an experience with Los Angeles Galaxy. The American, to contribute to leading him this season to his first title in the Italian League since 2011.

MILAN: Ibrahimovic will continue playing on one condition

AC Milan's striker Zlatan Ibrahimovic has reportedly decided to play for one more season provided he won’t need to undergo a new surgery in the coming weeks. The Swede’s contract at San Siro runs out in June and his future remains up in the air given his struggles with injuries this season. The 40-year-old has scored eight goals in 23 appearances this term, missing 18 games because of injuries. According to Calciomercato.com, the veteran striker has already decided that he wants to continue playing for one more season, but a final decision isn’t only up to him. The former Manchester United and Barcelona striker isn’t willing to retire but will have a specialist visit in the coming weeks to evaluate whether or not he needs a new keyhole surgery. If a new operation isn’t necessary, Paolo Maldini and Ricky Massara will offer him a new one-year deal until June 2023. On the other hand, if Ibra needs to go under the knife, forcing him to remain out of action for several months, he may decide to end his playing career. Milan remains on the lookout for a new center-forward regardless of Ibrahimovic’s decision over his future. The 40-year-old player has scored 8 goals in 23 matches this season and has missed 18 matches due to injuries.

Klopp wins Premier League and LMA Manager of the Season awards

  The German coach Jürgen Klopp has been named the Premier League’s Manager of the Season for 2021-22 as well as the LMA Manager of the Year. The Liverpool boss received both awards at a League Managers Association event on Tuesday, in recognition of an outstanding campaign for his team. Klopp emerged as the Premier League's Manager of the Season winner from a shortlist that also included Thomas Frank (Brentford), Pep Guardiola (Manchester City), Eddie Howe (Newcastle United), and Patrick Vieira (Crystal Palace)  .Klopp guided the Reds to triumphs in the Carabao Cup and Emirates FA Cup this term, while they narrowly missed out on the Premier League title having accumulated 92 points in the top flight, with one point behind the champions, Manchester City, with 93 points.

Officially: Nosair Mazraoui joins Bayern Munich until 2026

German club Bayern Munich announced on Tuesday, the signing of Moroccan right-back Nossair Mazraoui until the summer of 2026.
