FIFA reveals the illustrious assistants for Qatar 2022 final draw

The International Football Association (FIFA) announced on Thursday the full line-up of assistants whom will participate in the final draw to reveal the groups for the 2022 edition of football’s global showpiece, as the event will be staged at the Doha Exhibition and Convention Center and will get underway at 19:00 local time (18:00 CET). FIFA has already chosen Cafu and Lothar Matthäus among the assistants for Friday’s draw as they were chosen by FIFA. On Friday, 1 April, FIFA World Cup™️ champions Cafu (Brazil) and Lothar Matthäus (Germany) will team up with the Algerian legend Rabah Madjer, the German Lothar Matthews, the Nigerian Jay Jay Okocha, the Qatari Adel Ahmed Malallah, the Iranian Ali Daei, the Serbian Bora Milutinovic, the Australian Tim Cahill and the French Marcel Desaillier, to team-up in the World Cup draw ceremony, which will be held at the end of this year in Qatar.The six assistants for the final draw to reveal the groups for the 2022 edition of football’s global showpiece. The eight draw illustrious assistants will be supported by an action team consisting of Carli Lloyd, football analyst and former England player Jermaine Jenas, and British Jamaican sports presenter Samantha Johnson. “I am getting used to this, but it still gives me goosebumps,” said Cafu, who will be taking part in a final draw for the third time after also playing in three successive FIFA World Cup final matches in 1994, 1998 and 2002, winning the trophy twice. “It is a sign that the World Cup is getting nearer. It is nearly 20 years since I became the last South American player to lift the World Cup and it is a memory I will always cherish. Playing at the World Cup, when your whole country comes to a standstill to watch the game, is incomparable.”

Brazil holds on to top spot in FIFA rankings from Belgium

The official site of the international governing body of football news revealed that Brazil’s Seleção have held onto their position at the top of the world football rankings, according to an update released by the international football federation FIFA on Thursday, ahead of Belgian counterpart, which dominated the first place in recent months. Brazil topped the FIFA rankings with 1832 points, ahead of the second-placed Belgium with 1827 points. The French team came in third place with 1789 points, then Argentina 1765 points, and the English team came in fifth place with 1761 points. The Italian team ranked sixth with 1723 points, then Spain with 1709 points, Portugal 1674 points, Mexico 1658.82 points, and the Netherlands team came in tenth place with 1658.66 points.

Mexico eases past El Salvador to book spot at FIFA World Cup Qatar

Egypt legend national team general manager Wael Gomaa has announced his departure from the national team staff following his country’s defeat to Senegal, following the 3-1 defeat by Senegal on penalties.
