Rodrygo dismantles how he has chosen Real Madrid for Barcelona 

A few eyebrows were raised when Real Madrid forked out €45m for a 17-year-old who had played just 49 senior games. Yet Rodrygo Goes made the move from Santos and it turns out that Los Blancos weren’t the only ones willing to pay that price according to the player. Rodrygo explained that Barcelona was also suitable for him. “I arrived home after a match. And I chose the Real Madrid one.” Rodrygo had also detailed how his father had in fact agreed on a deal with Barcelona, with only Rodrygo’s signature needed to seal things. Clearly, the young Brazilian was clear on where his heart lay. After a period of adaptation, as is to be expected for such a young player, Rodrygo made a major impact this season in the Champions League. Speaking to Mundo Deportivo saying: “In my debut with Real Madrid, in pre-season, I scored a goal from a free-kick and celebrated. When I got to the dressing room, Marcelo and Nacho said to me: ‘if you’re losing and you celebrate, get the ball and get to the centre circle, you don’t celebrate it.” He continued: "When I got to the dressing room, Marcelo and Nachon told me if you lose and celebrate, get the ball and get to the center circle, you don't celebrate it."

Liverpool finished summer transfer business with Aberdeen full-back Calvin Ramsay

English press reports revealed that Liverpool has set to announce their third signing of the summer and in doing so complete their transfer business for the year. Sky Sports network reported that Liverpool succeeded in reaching an agreement with Aberdeen full-back Calvin Ramsay in a deal mounts after reaching an agreement on personal terms with the 18-year-old player. Sky News added that Ramsey will sign a 5-year contract with the Reds, keeping him to stay with the team until 2027. Ramsey appeared in 33 games with Aberdeen in various competitions during the last season, scoring a goal and providing 9 assists.

Ukrainian domestic football league set for August restart despite the war

Ukrainian Association of Football (UAF) President Andriy Pavelko revealed that he had held talks with President Zelenskyy, who agrees that football can play an important role in boosting morale amid the ongoing conflict. The Ukrainian Premier League season was terminated in April, having been unable to resume from its winter break due to the Russian war in February. "After talks with President Zelensky and the leaders of FIFA and UEFA about looking for a safe way to play men's and women's matches, I spoke to our president about the importance of football in distracting people, now we are thinking about the future, and we'll start on August 20.", Pavelko told The Associated Press. He added, "Football teams will start to return in mid-July, and the next tournament will start again, and the matches will be held between western Ukraine and Poland." He explained the situation of foreign players, where it will not be easy for them to retain if the war continues.

Press reports revealed Arsenal is reportedly closing in on an agreement over the transfer of Manchester City forward Gabriel Jesus during the current summer transfer window.
