Ukrainian domestic football league set for August restart despite the war

Ukrainian Association of Football (UAF) President Andriy Pavelko revealed that he had held talks with President Zelenskyy, who agrees that football can play an important role in boosting morale amid the ongoing conflict. The Ukrainian Premier League season was terminated in April, having been unable to resume from its winter break due to the Russian war in February.
"After talks with President Zelensky and the leaders of FIFA and UEFA about looking for a safe way to play men's and women's matches, I spoke to our president about the importance of football in distracting people, now we are thinking about the future, and we'll start on August 20.", Pavelko told The Associated Press.
He added, "Football teams will start to return in mid-July, and the next tournament will start again, and the matches will be held between western Ukraine and Poland."
He explained the situation of foreign players, where it will not be easy for them to retain if the war continues.
