Sends shock to Chelsea: Koulibaly wants to end his career at Napoli

In-demand Napoli defender Kalidou Koulibaly has reportedly decided that he wants to hang up his boots in Naples. The Senegal international has remained loyal to Luciano Spalletti's side for the past couple of years despite persistent links with a switch to the Premier League. Koulibaly will soon enter the final year of his contract with Napoli, though, and some of Europe's top clubs are still being linked with a move for the 31-year-old. Manchester United and Barcelona are thought to be keeping tabs on Koulibaly, while Chelsea is stepping up their efforts to sign the defender amid their center-back search. The Blues are supposedly willing to pay Koulibaly £8.5m per year to make the move to Stamford Bridge, but their lucrative salary offer may ultimately fall on deaf ears.

Buffon: 'Di Maria in Serie A is like Maradona'

Gianluigi Buffon hopes his former club Juventus signs Angel Di Maria as he likened the Paris Saint-Germain attacker to Argentina's great Diego Maradona. The Italian legendary goalkeeper spent one year at Paris Saint-Germain with Di Maria and is convinced the Argentina international will make the difference in Italy."Di Maria in Serie A is like Maradona," Buffon said to Italian publication La Gazzetta dello Sport. Di Maria is available as a free player after his contract with PSG expires, as Juventus will make his move, as offered a one-year deal with an option for another season. However, the Argentine appears determined to stay in Europe for one season only, play in the World Cup, and return To Argentina at the end of the 2022-23 season.  "Footballers should be appreciated given the context in which they play," Buffon added. "Today, the Italian league is the poorest technically and Angel has a lot of techniques.""He is decisive in front of goal, he dribbles past his opponents. He is good at making assists and runs up and down on the pitch. He can play in different roles." said Buffon.  He continued: "We are talking about a perfectly professional, a nice guy, someone who never gives up and fights during matches and training sessions, I repeat, in the Italian league, he will be like Maradona."Di Maria turned 34 in February, but Buffon doesn't seem to be a problem for him or Juventus. "I am 44, but I still play, age doesn't matter. Motivation and passion are more important and so is determination," he added. "If Di Maria joins Juventus, it means that he's ready to do so. "He is an exemplary professional, one who never gives up and fights during games and training sessions. For today's Serie A, he'd be like Maradona. The Parma goalkeeper also suggested Di Maria is talented enough that age should not be a factor as Juve aims to secure the winger."At PSG, I played with Neymar, a young Kylian Mbappe, Marco Verratti… but Di Maria was not inferior to no one.
