Russian Football Union prepare to file lawsuit against FIFA and UEFA

The Russian Football Union (RFU) are preparing to file a lawsuit to the Court of Arbitration for Sport against FIFA and UEFA,  due to the suspension of the participation of the Russian national team and clubs in competitions, against the background of the military attack on Ukraine.
FIFA issued an official statement saying: “Following the preliminary decisions adopted by the FIFA Council and the UEFA Executive Committee, which provided for additional measures, FIFA and UEFA today jointly decided that all Russian teams, whether national teams or clubs, will be suspended from participating in the tournament. Both FIFA and UEFA tournaments until further notice
The Russian Football Federation confirmed that it had filed a case against FIFA and UEFA in the International Court of Sports "CAS", against the recent decisions against Russian teams and clubs.
As a result, Russia was automatically knocked out of the 2022 World Cup qualifiers play-off semi-final, with Poland receiving a bye to the next stage.
Meanwhile domestic side Spartak Moscow was also excluded from this season's Europa League knockout stages.
