Doha emerges as a potential candidate to host the final of the African Champions League 

It seems that the Qatari capital, Doha, has emerged as a potential candidate to host the final of the African Champions League, which will be held on 29 May 2022, instead of Senegal. Holders Al-Ahly of Egypt remains on course for an unprecedented third straight African Champions League title after a resounding 4-0 home win over 10-man Entente Setif of Algeria in Saturday's semi-final, first leg, while Wydad Casablanca of Morocco beat Petro de Luanda of Angola 3-1, and it is likely that the final will be an Arabian clash between Al-Ahly and Wydad.

Atletico wins  a fiery derby clash against champions Real Madrid 

Atlético Madrid collects critical three points against second-choice Real Madrid lineup 1-0 on Sunday at Wanda Metropolitano stadium, at the top of the 35th round of the Spanish League. The only goal came via the Belgian Yannick Carrasco who puts the hosts ahead in the 40th minute after a penalty was awarded to Atletico following a Video Assistant Referee review for a foul on Matheus Cunha.  Real Madrid is champions of La Liga for the 35th time in the club's history after defeating Espanyol 4-0 in Saturday afternoon's clash, to be the most club in the major European crowned with the league title. The Royal leads the competition's standings with 81 points, while Atletico Madrid is fourth on the table with 64 points.

AC Milan defeated Verona in a vital victory that ensures the Rossoneri return to the top of the Serie A 

AC Milan defeated Hellas Verona at the Marcantonio Bentegodi Stadium tonight, in a victory that ensured that the Rossoneri returned to the top of the Serie A pile at Inter Milan's expense with just two games left of the campaign.  Sandro Tonali scored twice and Alessandro Florenzi found the net at Marcantonio Bentegodi Stadium in Verona to lead the visitors to the critical win in the title race. Davide Faraoni was the lone scorer for Verona, who takes ninth place with 52 points. Milan now leads Serie A with 80 points, two points ahead of city rivals Inter Milan, with two matches remaining, while Hellas Verona was in ninth place with 52 points.

Benzema targets closing in on Raúl’s goals tally for Real Madrid

The French striker has reached 320 goals for Real Madrid and is now just one goal away from equalling legendary No.7, Raúl. Cristiano Ronaldo is the all-time record holder (450) on Sunday at Wanda Metropolitano stadium at the top of the round matches of the Spanish League. The Spanish newspaper "AS" reported that Karim Benzema needs to score one goal to become Real Madrid's second scorer in history with 323 goals, equal with former star Raul Gonzalez, and behind Portuguese star Cristiano Ronaldo, the record holder with 450 goals. Karim Benzema has scored 322 goals so far for Real Madrid in various competitions in 602 matches. Real Madrid wins record-extending 35th La Liga title after thrashing Espanyol - Euro round-up. Carlo Ancelotti becomes the first manager to capture titles in each of Europe's top five leagues; Real was able to rest Karim Benzema ahead of Wednesday's Champions League semi-final second leg against Man City; Marcelo is now Real's most successful player with 24 trophies at the club.

Barcelona: The master of "Plus +90" goal scoring record in the Spanish League

  Barcelona booked a place in the next season's UEFA Champions League after they secured a last-gasp 2-1 win over Real Betis away from home on Saturday at the Estadio Benito Villamarín in Seville, Spain, the home of Real Betis. Jordi Alba scored the goal as Barcelona defeated Real Betis in their league match. The full-back received a cross from another full-back, Dani Alves, and hit a sensational volley which, as it came in the 94th minute, was worth all three points. Statistics indicate that the Catalan team is the most La Liga team during the current season 2021-2022, achieving victory after the 90th minute, after reaching 8 matches, surpassing its traditional rival Real Madrid, who has 6 matches, equal with Granada.

UEFA threatens Barcelona, Real Madrid, and Juventus with ban from Champions League..What the reason?

Aleksander Ceferin, president of the European Football Association (UEFA), has said that Barcelona, Real Madrid and Juventus are still likely to face penalties for refusing to back down from the idea of launching the European Super League. UEFA president Aleksander Ceferin says the remaining Super League clubs Barcelona, Real Madrid and Juventus could yet face sanctions, also insisting they are free to form their own competition if they give up their places in the Champions League. Madrid, Barcelona, and Juventus were the only three founding clubs not to renounce their backing for the widely derided Super League after the breakaway project's collapse in April 2021.

Al-Ahly FC thumps ES Setif to put one foot into CAF Champions League final

CAF Champions League holders Al-Ahly FC thumped ES Setif 4-0 on Saturday evening in the semifinal first leg match at At Al-Salam Stadium in Cairo. At the kick-off, Al-Ahly attacked hard and managed to score a goal in advance in the 3rd minute but the referee canceled it after referring to the “mouse” technique, which indicated the presence of a case of infiltration on Taher Muhammad Taher. South African striker Percy Tau scored for Al-Ahly in the 30th minute. Amir Karaoui was sent off for a dangerous challenge on Hussein El Shahat with 10 minutes of the first half. Then Taher Mohamed Taher added the second goal in the 54th minute, and Mohamed Sharif secured the third goal in the 72nd minute, then Percy Tau completed his brace Percy Tau added the fourth goal for Al-Ahly in the 90th minute.

Son approaches Salah.. threatens his top scorer in the Premier League

South Korean Son Heung-min of Tottenham Hotspur approached Liverpool’s Mohamed Salah in a Premier League top scorer struggle three rounds before the end of the competition. Son scored a goal against Liverpool, bringing the South Korean tally to 20 goals, to be close to Salah, who tops the list with 22 goals. Salah scored two goals in his last 7 matches in the English Premier League. Salah will play against Aston Villa, Southampton and Wolverhampton, while Son will play against Arsenal, Burnley and Norwich. Liverpool missed the opportunity to be at the top of the English Football League, even temporarily, after drawing 1-1 with its guest, Tottenham, in the 36th stage of the competition. Liverpool raised its score to 83 points at the top of the standings, with a goal difference from Manchester City, which is in second place with the same balance, who plays against its guest, Newcastle.

For the fourth time in its history: Nantes won the French Cup and their first major in Ligue 1 title

FC Nantes won the French Cup for the first time in 22 years on Saturday, beating Nice 1-0 in the final at the Stade de France in Paris. Nantes secured their fourth Coupe de France crown and their first major trophy since 2001 as Antoine Kombouare’s side edged out OGC Nice 1-0 at the Stade de France in Paris to celebrate a long-awaited triumph to bring Nantes the club's first major trophy since winning the Ligue 1 title in 2001, while Nice won its last three titles in the 1996-1997 season.
