Bellingham surpasses Zidane with 6 goals in the World Cup
England and Real Madrid star Jude Bellingham continued his impressive form at the 2026 World Cup, surpassing French football legend Zinedine Zidane's all-time scoring record in the tournament. Bellingham scored twice in England's quarter-final match against Norway, bringing his total to seven goals across the 2022 and 2026 World Cups. The English midfielder has also been in fine form at the current tournament, scoring six goals, compared to one in the 2022 World Cup, surpassing Zidane's five. Bellingham's goals in the tournament came against Croatia, Panama, and Mexico (against whom he scored twice), before his brace against Norway. He also provided an assist during England's campaign. Bellingham has now become the highest-scoring midfielder at the 2026 World Cup, with all six of his goals coming from open play and none from penalties. Jude Bellingham also became the second English player to score 6 goals from open play in a major tournament, whether the World Cup or the European Championship, equaling Gary Lineker's record of 6 goals in the 1986 World Cup.
