Deaths during celebrations of Mexico's qualification

Three people died in Mexico City after crowds took to the streets to celebrate the Mexican national soccer team's qualification for the Round of 16 in the World Cup. Mexico defeated Ecuador 2-0 at the Azteca Stadium. The official account of the Mexico City Health Department confirmed the deaths of a 44-year-old man, a 19-year-old woman, and a 48-year-old woman, all from asphyxiation, in separate locations near Paseo de la Reforma in the city center. Clara Brujada, head of the Mexico City government, wrote on her X account: "As reported by the Mexico City Health Department, emergency teams responded immediately to reports of three unconscious individuals in different locations near Paseo de la Reforma. All medical response protocols were activated, but unfortunately, they passed away." She added, "We are in contact with their families to offer all necessary support." She affirmed: "With a heavy heart, I extend my deepest condolences and heartfelt sympathy to their families, and we renew our call to everyone to always celebrate responsibly, carefully, and with a spirit of compassion."
