Qatar's national team announces its World Cup squad

Spanish coach Julen Lopetegui, manager of the Qatari national football team, announced the official squad that will participate in the 2026 FIFA World Cup, scheduled to be held in the United States, Canada, and Mexico. This historic edition will see 48 teams participate for the first time, instead of 32. The squad, which departed for the final training camp in preparation for the World Cup, includes a mix of key players and international experience, and is as follows: Goalkeepers: Meshaal Barsham, Mahmoud Aboundi, Salah Zakaria. The outfield players are: Ahmed Al-Janahi, Ahmed Fathi, Ahmed Alaa, Tahseen Mohammed, Pedro Miguel, Boualem Khoukhi, Ayoub Al-Alawi, Al-Hashemi Al-Hussain, Assim Madibo, Sultan Al-Buraik, Hassan Al-Haydos, Jassim Jaber, Mohammed Al-Mannai, Lucas Mendes, Karim Boudiaf, Issa Lai, Abdulaziz Hatem, Youssef Abdulrazaq, Hammam Al-Amin, Akram Afif, Almoez Ali, Edmilson Junior, and Mohammed Muntari. The 2026 World Cup will be the first to feature 48 teams, a historic expansion of the tournament that promises unprecedented competitiveness. Qatar is eager to make a strong showing and reflect the progress of Qatari football on the international stage.
