Winter transfer window dates in the major leagues

Football fans across Europe and the Arab world are eagerly awaiting the opening of the winter transfer window for the 2026 season next month, with varying start and end dates across different leagues . According to FIFA, the transfer window in Germany, England, and France will open on January 1st and close on Monday, February 2nd, as January 31st and February 1st fall on weekends. In Spain and Italy, the window will open on January 2nd, with the closing date matching the other three major European leagues . Denmark and Scotland follow Germany's schedule, while the Netherlands aligns with Spain and Italy. Portugal's winter transfer window opens on January 2nd and closes on February 3rd. Some leagues have a longer window, according to Transfermarkt, such as Turkey (January 5th – February 10th, local time), Croatia (January 10th – February 17th), and Poland (January 26th – February 25th). The transfer window also extends in leagues where the season is held annually, such as Norway (January 30 – March 27) and Finland (February 5 – April 1). The transfer window also continues in South America, where it extends in Brazil from January 5 to March 3, and in Argentina from January 14 to March 10 .
