FIFA confuses national teams ahead of the Africa Cup of Nations
According to reports, most notably from Sky Sports, FIFA has informed all clubs worldwide of the official deadline for releasing players participating in the 2025 Africa Cup of Nations to join their national teams. Morocco will host the next edition of the tournament in December and January. Sky Sports explained that FIFA has granted clubs the option of retaining their players until December 15th, just six days before the tournament kicks off, to give them more time to utilize their players before they join their national teams. This decision is part of FIFA's efforts to safeguard the rights of both clubs and national teams. The international federation aims to minimize the impact of international players' absence on domestic league competitions during this period, while ensuring players remain fit and available for the continental championship.
