Brazil officially applies to host the 2029 World Cup

The Brazilian Football Confederation (CBF), headed by 41-year-old Samir Chaoud, has submitted an official bid to FIFA to host the 2029 Club World Cup, a move that confirms Brazil's serious desire to organize this major global football event. The bid came during an official meeting between Chaoud and FIFA President Gianni Infantino, 55, where the two sides discussed ways to support Brazil's bid and enhance its chances of winning the honor of hosting. The two sides exchanged ideas and plans related to organizing the tournament. The British newspaper, The Athletic, highlighted in a report the points Chaoud put forward to convince Infantino, which were based on the advanced infrastructure built by Brazil during its hosting of the 2014 World Cup, in addition to its readiness to host the 2027 Women's World Cup, which constitutes a strong boost for its bid, especially in light of the United States hosting the current edition. The newspaper pointed out that Brazil is not the only candidate, as it faces competition from other bids, most notably a joint bid between Morocco, Portugal and Spain, and another between Australia and New Zealand. Negotiations regarding both are progressing at an advanced pace, according to statements by the Director General of the Australian Football Federation, James Johnson, and the President of the Royal Moroccan Football Federation, Fouzi Lekjaa. On another level, the Brazilian Football Confederation, led by Samir Chaoud, seeks to restore its standing on the international football scene after a period of administrative and judicial crises, and a decline in the national team's results. Chaoud believes that hosting a major global tournament is an ideal opportunity to restore Brazil's brilliance and revive its rich football legacy in the eyes of the world.
