Ramos makes Club World Cup history

Veteran Spanish defender Sergio Ramos achieved yet another historic milestone in his career, becoming the oldest player to score a goal in the history of the Club World Cup. His goal came during his participation with his Mexican club Monterrey against Italian club Inter Milan, early Wednesday morning, in the first round of Group E. Ramos opened the scoring for his team with a stunning header that found the bottom left corner of the net, before Argentine Lautaro Martinez equalized for the Nerazzurri, with the match ending in a 1-1 draw. With this goal, Ramos broke the previous record for the oldest player to score in the tournament, as he was 39 years and 80 days old, surpassing Argentine defender Javier Zanetti, who scored at 37 years and 127 days old. After Ramos on the list are: Nicolas Otamendi (37 years and 125 days), Angel Di Maria (37 years and 123 days), and Karim Benzema (35 years and 361 days). Ramos was also named Man of the Match, thanks to his strong performance throughout the match, bringing his tally to five goals for Monterrey and a total of 122 goals in his career across all the clubs he has represented and the Spanish national team.
