Haaland is on the verge of making history against Paris

Norwegian striker Erling Haaland, of Manchester City, is preparing for a highly anticipated clash against Paris Saint-Germain on Wednesday evening in the second round of the Premier League. He has his sights set on breaking two Champions League records and continuing to make history with the English club . Haaland enters the match with high hopes after maintaining his impressive goal-scoring form for City this season. He netted his sixth Premier League goal in a 3-0 victory over Liverpool and also scored twice in his team's win against Porto in the opening round of the Champions League . The Norwegian striker has the opportunity to become Manchester City's all-time leading scorer in the Champions League if he scores against Paris Saint-Germain, having reached 36 goals in the competition for the club, equaling the record held by Argentinian Sergio Aguero . Haaland's ambitions don't stop there. He's also close to achieving a historic milestone in the competition, specifically regarding the number of goals scored in his first 60 matches. He currently has 59 goals in 59 appearances, while Dutchman Ruud van Nistelrooy scored 48 goals in his first 60 matches in the tournament . Haaland will reach a new record if he finds the net against the French team, as he will then reach 60 Champions League goals, equaling van Nistelrooy's total. Scoring two or more goals would also give him the opportunity to climb the all-time top scorers list . As for his overall record with Manchester City across all competitions, Haaland has scored 170 goals in 206 appearances, bringing him closer to Eric Brook's record of 177 goals. Sergio Aguero leads the list with 260 goals . Paris Saint-Germain presents a particular challenge for the Norwegian striker, who has scored three goals in his last three matches against the French side, despite Manchester City losing two of those encounters. This only adds to the significance of the upcoming clash in his pursuit of records . Haaland's statistics reveal his formidable threat at the Etihad Stadium, having scored 37 of his 59 Champions League goals on home soil, making him one of Manchester City's most potent attacking weapons in big matches.
