Marmoush fined in Britain over McLaren car

Teesside Magistrates' Court in Britain has fined Egyptian striker Omar Marmoush, on loan from Manchester City to Tottenham Hotspur, for driving without insurance and failing to notify the authorities that his car was being taken off the road. The BBC reported that the case was decided on October 5th after it was discovered that the player's McLaren 720S, valued at approximately £250,000, was not covered by valid insurance. The court imposed a £220 fine on Marmoush, in addition to £100 in court costs and £88 in compensation for the victim. The report indicated that the UK's Driver and Vehicle Licensing Agency (DVLA) took legal action against the player after he failed to pay a fixed fine issued against him last June. The agency also attempted to contact him at his former apartment in Manchester before he moved to London, but he did not respond to the charges or official correspondence. The case was heard through a legal procedure known as "individual justice," a process that allows magistrates to rule on certain cases without a traditional public hearing. On the sporting front, Marmoush made a substitute appearance in Tottenham's 1-1 draw against Manchester United in the Premier League, as he seeks to establish himself with his new club. The Egyptian striker joined Tottenham last summer on loan from Manchester City until the end of the season, with a mandatory purchase option for £60 million, according to reports. Marmoush has yet to score for Tottenham, but he rediscovered his scoring touch with the Egyptian national team, netting twice against South Sudan in late September during the 2027 Africa Cup of Nations qualifiers.
