Yamal breaks Messi and Ronaldo's records in a historic achievement

Barcelona's young Spanish star, Lamine Yamal, continues to make football history, achieving a new record before turning 20. He surpasses several of the game's biggest names in the modern era, including Lionel Messi, Cristiano Ronaldo, Kylian Mbappé, and Erling Haaland . Yamal has either scored or assisted a goal in nine consecutive matches for Barcelona and the Spanish national team, becoming the first player under 20 to achieve this feat in the 21st century in European football, according to the Catalan newspaper Mundo Deportivo. The young star delivered outstanding performances in these matches, scoring goals and providing assists for his teammates. In some games, he even combined both goals and assists, before his streak was halted in Spain's match against Croatia . This record underscores the significant development of the young star, whose impact is no longer limited to his individual skills, dribbling, and playmaking abilities. He has become one of the most influential goalscorers for both Barcelona and the Spanish national team . Lamine Yamal's achievement places him in direct comparison with several football legends and stars, having surpassed the records set by Messi, Ronaldo, Mbappe, and Haaland before their 20th birthdays . Lionel Messi, considered one of the greatest players in football history, never reached the same milestone at that age, scoring or assisting in four consecutive matches before turning 20, a streak that extended to five matches during the 2007 Copa America . Cristiano Ronaldo, at the age of 19, managed to score or assist in four consecutive matches in September 2004, two for Portugal and two for Manchester United . Kylian Mbappe's streak ended at six consecutive matches in which he was involved in at least one goal before turning 20, while Erling Haaland achieved eight consecutive matches with at least one goal before turning 20 for club and country . Haaland was not the only player to reach 8 games, as Jadon Sancho and Florian Wirtz achieved the same number, but none of them were able to reach 9 consecutive games, a record set by Lamine Yamal to become the player with the best streak of its kind for a player under 20 years old in the 21st century .
