Benzema overtakes Thierry Henry achievement to become France’s top scorer in history  

Irresistible Karim Benzema, the Spanish star of Real Madrid ahs a new decisive history record in the qualification of Real Madrid at the expense of Paris Saint-Germain last Wednesday in the round of 16 of the Champions League. The Real Madrid striker was once again decisive in the victory of the Meringue Monday March 14 in Mallorca (0-3). Author of a double (76th and 81st), Benzema erased Thierry Henry from the annals to become the best French scorer in history, in all competitions. La Liga’s top scorer is now at 413 goals. He also dispossessed Bernard Lacombe of his title of top tricolor scorer in history in the five major European championships (257 against 255).


Benzema scored 311 goals for Real Madrid in various competitions, 66 goals with his former team Lyon, and scored 36 goals in the French national team shirt.

The Real Madrid star strengthened their lead in the Spanish league's top scorer this season with 22 goals, 8 goals ahead of his Brazilian teammate, Vinícius Júnior , runner-up with 14 goals.
