Sterling faces a two-year prison sentence

Former Chelsea and current Feyenoord player Raheem Sterling is facing a serious legal crisis after being charged with dangerous driving, possession of nitrous oxide, and refusing to submit to a drug test following a car accident earlier this year . Sterling, 31, was involved in an accident while driving a Lamborghini worth approximately £270,000, when his car crashed into a barrier on the M3 motorway in Hampshire, England . No one was injured in the crash, and no other vehicles were involved. Police intervened and arrested Sterling on suspicion of driving under the influence of drugs . According to British media reports, police began monitoring Sterling after several motorists reported seeing his car swerving on the motorway shortly before the accident. The matter later escalated into a criminal case, with Sterling being formally charged with three counts: dangerous driving, possession of nitrous oxide, and failure to provide a required sample for analysis . Sterling is scheduled to appear in court on September 15. Under British law, a conviction for dangerous driving carries a maximum sentence of two years in prison . Sterling joined Feyenoord last February after his contract with Chelsea expired, but failed to live up to expectations during his time with the Dutch club . He made eight official appearances for Feyenoord, scoring no goals and providing only one assist, before becoming a free agent last summer.
