The British government deals a painful blow to the owner of Chelsea

The British government dealt a painful blow to the Russian owner of Chelsea FC Roman Abramovich, after it decided to freeze his properties, against the backdrop of the Russian military operations on Ukrainian soil, which began about two weeks ago.
The British newspaper, The Times, said that the British government’s decision to freeze the property and assets of Chelsea owner Abramovich will prevent him from selling the club, and will prevent the Blues from selling any tickets for the team’s matches during the coming period, and only season ticket holders will be allowed to attend the team’s matches.
The newspaper added that Chelsea is on a special exception to continue football-related activities, to ensure that the club continues to compete and work, and to pay the salaries of employees.
The newspaper pointed out that the Chelsea team will be affected by this decision, as the club cannot renew the contract of any player, or sign any new player, in addition to closing the club store. The successive sanctions come from the British government in light of the Chelsea owner's strong relationship with Russian President Vladimir Putin.
