€200 million... Lewandowski rejected a huge offer
Robert Lewandowski's agent, Pini Zahavi, revealed that the former Barcelona striker rejected a staggering €200 million offer from Saudi Arabia, preferring to remain in European football before his eventual move to Major League Soccer. In an interview with the Polish website WP SportoweFakty, Zahavi explained that an unnamed Saudi club made a formal offer in early 2026 to sign Lewandowski on a two-year contract worth €100 million annually, totaling €200 million. Zahavi stated, "It's true that Robert wanted to move to Saudi Arabia, and we knew there was a lot of money waiting for us, but things changed later." Despite the enormous financial incentives, the Polish striker decided to stay with Barcelona, before his playing time declined and manager Hansi Flick was unable to guarantee him a regular starting position. His agent added: "Barcelona couldn't guarantee Robert a place in the starting lineup, and that was more important to him than money. Deco and Hansi Flick had different visions for his future at the club, and that's when we started exploring other options." At the end of June, Chicago Fire officially announced the signing of Lewandowski on a free transfer after his contract with Barcelona expired on July 1st. The 37-year-old striker had announced in May that he did not intend to renew his contract with Barcelona before deciding to move to Major League Soccer, following in the footsteps of his former Bayern Munich teammate, Bastian Schweinsteiger. Lewandowski has already made his debut for Chicago Fire, but his start wasn't ideal, as his team lost 3-2 to Inter Miami.
