Lewandowski sacrifices a fortune for Barcelona

Pini Zahavi, the agent of Polish star Robert Lewandowski, revealed that the former Barcelona striker rejected a massive Saudi offer worth €100 million per season for two years, preferring to stay with the Catalan club at the time. Zahavi explained to SportoweFakty that the offer reached Lewandowski in January 2026, but he didn't hesitate to turn it down, wanting to continue his career with Barcelona. After leaving the Catalan team, the 37-year-old striker received interest from several European clubs, most notably Porto, Milan, and Juventus, but these contacts did not develop into formal negotiations. Ultimately, Lewandowski opted to move to Chicago Fire in the United States, convinced by the club's project presented by coach Gregg Berhalter. The Polish striker signed a two-year contract worth approximately $40 million, making him the second-highest-paid player in Major League Soccer after Lionel Messi. Zahavi also revealed the message Barcelona president Joan Laporta sent Lewandowski upon his departure: "Tell Robert we love him. He is part of Barcelona's history, the man who saved the club."
