Casemiro deal sparks crisis in MLS

Major League Soccer (MLS) has opened an official investigation into Inter Miami following a complaint filed by LA Galaxy regarding the signing of Brazilian star Casemiro. Inter Miami officially announced the signing of Casemiro on July 22, but the deal has come under scrutiny due to allegations of violating MLS Discovery Rights regulations. According to ESPN, LA Galaxy maintains that it held the rights to negotiate with Casemiro and accuses Inter Miami of initiating talks with the player before officially acquiring those rights. MLS regulations stipulate that each club can list five players on its Discovery Rights list, granting it exclusive rights to negotiate with them. If another club wishes to sign one of these players, it must first purchase the rights from the club that holds them. Although Inter Miami stated during Casemiro's presentation that it ultimately obtained the rights from LA Galaxy, the complaint prompted the league to launch an investigation to ensure the club complied with all procedures and regulations governing the transfer. In an official statement, the American League confirmed that the investigation is still ongoing, noting that it is working to gather all the necessary information before issuing any decision, and will not make any further statements until the investigation is complete.
