The report suggests that Barcelona officials believe the timing and nature of the player's statements align with the club's negotiating strategy, potentially increasing the pressure on Atlético Madrid to reconsider their refusal to sell. Barcelona had previously submitted a €100 million offer, which was rejected, before returning with an improved bid of €130 million, hoping to finalize the deal for less than the release clause, which exceeds €150 million.
