Barcelona return with a huge offer to sign Alvarez

Reports indicate that Barcelona is preparing a massive offer of between €120 million and €130 million to sign Argentine striker Julián Álvarez, in a renewed attempt to persuade Atlético Madrid to part with him. According to Cadena SER radio's "El Larguero" program, Barcelona's management believes that Álvarez's recent statements, in which he expressed his desire to leave Madrid to fulfill his "dream," have shifted the balance of power in the deal in the Catalan club's favor. The report suggests that Barcelona officials believe the timing and nature of the player's statements align with the club's negotiating strategy, potentially increasing the pressure on Atlético Madrid to reconsider their refusal to sell. Barcelona had previously submitted a €100 million offer, which was rejected, before returning with an improved bid of €130 million, hoping to finalize the deal for less than the release clause, which exceeds €150 million. In contrast, Atletico Madrid maintains its position of refusing to let go of the player, as the club's management confirms that Alvarez is not for sale, and that any discussion will only take place according to the value of the penalty clause estimated at around 500 million euros, amid a state of anger within the club regarding the developments of the file.
