Jamie Carragher: Mo Salah would be mad to leave Liverpool now

Jamie Carragher has told Liverpool Echo Sport outlet that Liverpool would be mad to let Mohamed Salah leave Anfield at the end of his contract, but he added that the forward would also be mad to go.
Although Carragher understands why the club has taken a cautious approach to negotiations with Mohamed Salah, the Sky Sports expert feels the talks will still lead to a straightforward solution.
Salah’s future is going to be a huge talking point over the coming months. His deal on Merseyside expires at the end of next season. And in truth, he has been almost as impressive as he has ever been for Jurgen Klopp’s side this term.
He has scored 27 goals in 32 games in all competitions, including 19 in the Premier League. Unsurprisingly, he tops the scoring charts in the top-flight – and by some distance.
But interestingly, Carragher has suggested that a parting of the ways may be just as harmful for Salah as it would be for Liverpool.
“Every club would love to have Mo Salah but taking someone at the age of 32 and giving them a massive contract when a lot of these teams have maybe got Mbappe, got Haaland and you’ve got the younger generation coming through, I think it would be mad for Liverpool to let him go,” he told Optus Sport.
“But I think it would be mad for Mo Salah to leave Liverpool because I think this club and Jurgen Klopp has been great for him as well.”
Mohamed Salah's contract with Liverpool expires at the end of next season, and the Egyptian star has not renewed his contract with the Reds until now.
