Buffon signs new deal at Parma that will take him to 46 years of age

Gianluigi Buffon has extended his contract with Parma until 2024, meaning the veteran goalkeeper will be 46 when it expires. The World Cup-winning Italian, who began his career with the club before spending 19 years across two spells with Juventus, re-joined Serie B side Parma last year.
Buffon, who has won 10 Serie A titles and is the league’s record appearance maker with 657 games, announced his extension during a press conference with club president Kyle Krause.
“For me and my family, this is a wonderful day. I hope that the city and all fans will be happy,” Buffon said as reported by Sky Italia. Parma club president Kyle Krause has announced that legendary goalkeeper Gianluigi Buffon has extended his contract with Ducale, and will continue playing until he turns 46.
Buffon has the most matches in Serie A history (657 matches) and won 10 Scudetto titles with Juventus.
The 44-year-old has played 23 matches in the second division this season, conceding many goals and keeping eight clean sheets. Dukali has struggled this season and collected only 32 points in 26 games, and they sacked coach Enzo Marisca in November and replaced him with former Fiorentina coach Pepe Yachini. Despite their poor results in 2021-22, Parma is still in the race for the Serie B playoffs.
