Atletico Madrid target Galatasaray star to replace Alvarez

Spanish club Atletico Madrid has entered the race to sign Nigerian striker Victor Osimhen, who plays for Turkish club Galatasaray, during the upcoming summer transfer window, as it seeks to strengthen its attacking line in preparation for the new season. According to the Spanish newspaper AS, Atletico Madrid's management inquired about the possibility of signing Osimhen, who is seen as an ideal option to compensate for the potential departure of Argentine striker Julian Alvarez, who is strongly linked with a move to Barcelona. The Madrid club hopes to use the expected financial return from the sale of Alvarez to finance the Osimhen deal, but completing it will not be easy given Galatasaray's insistence on keeping their star player. The Turkish club signed Osimhen from Napoli for 75 million euros, and is expected to demand a higher price to let him go, especially after the outstanding performances the player has delivered and the absence of a specific penalty clause in his contract. The Nigerian striker's high salary, estimated at around 15 million euros per year, also represents an additional obstacle for Atletico Madrid in their quest to finalize the deal.
