Mourinho identifies Real Madrid's needs

Spanish media reports indicate that Portuguese coach José Mourinho has already begun outlining his new project with Real Madrid, despite the lack of an official announcement regarding his appointment. He has reportedly conducted a comprehensive evaluation of the team in preparation for his potential return to the Santiago Bernabéu . According to the Spanish newspaper AS, Mourinho informed the club's management that he is not demanding the signing of top-tier stars, but rather prefers players with passion, fighting spirit, and a strong sense of teamwork, rather than focusing on big names and individual prestige . The newspaper noted that the Portuguese coach analyzed the reasons for Real Madrid's decline in performance over the past two seasons, following their failure to win any major titles. He also reviewed several important matches and the atmosphere within the dressing room . Mourinho concluded that mentality and consistency are the biggest challenges facing the team, leading him to focus on recruiting players characterized by discipline, hard work, teamwork, and strong personalities . The report emphasized that Mourinho is looking for players willing to "run, fight, and sacrifice" for the team, prioritizing the collective good over individual considerations . Although he won't have the final say on all signings, the Portuguese manager will play a pivotal role in determining the quality of players who will join the team in the coming period . Regarding his tactical needs, Mourinho has outlined his priorities in the transfer market, which include signing one or two central defenders, as well as a right-back, a left-back, and two midfielders . In midfield, Mourinho is looking to bring in a defensive midfielder to provide the team with balance and defensive protection, along with a playmaker capable of enhancing the attacking build-up and creating chances . In defense, the Portuguese manager wants to sign an experienced defender to form a strong partnership with Antonio Rüdiger, while also reinforcing the full-back positions, particularly the right flank, which is expected to see stiff competition from Trent Alexander-Arnold. The left-back position may become an additional priority depending on Fran García's future.
