Conte is leaving Napoli

Italian coach Antonio Conte has officially announced his departure from Napoli, ending his two-year tenure with the southern Italian club. He cited a "toxic atmosphere" and a lack of unity within the club as the reasons for his decision . Conte's comments came after Napoli's 1-0 victory over Udinese in the final round of Serie A, where he spoke candidly about the factors that led him to leave despite successfully guiding the team to the 2024-2025 Serie A title . The Italian coach stated , "I failed at one thing at Napoli, and that was creating a sense of cohesion and unity. When you can't achieve that, it becomes difficult to compete with other teams. I saw a lot of poison in the atmosphere surrounding the club, and those spreading it are failures who don't have the team's best interests at heart." He added , "Napoli needs people who genuinely love the club and respect the fans who pay for tickets, not people who harm the team. I realized I couldn't unify the environment around the club, and that's why I decided to step down." Conte emphasized that his decision to leave wasn't made on a whim, but rather a month in advance, explaining that he felt the project didn't align with his ideas and working methods . He continued : "After the Bologna match, I felt things I absolutely didn't like. I don't play ordinary or aimless seasons, and I never will. Some of the new signings haven't gelled with the existing group, and very difficult dynamics have emerged within the team." He added: "I contacted the president and told him that my time with Napoli is nearing its end, and the decision was entirely mine." He concluded: "There is no agreement between me and the Italian Football Federation yet. It's still too early to talk about that."
