Preliminary agreement between Man City and Guardiola's successor

Press reports have revealed that Manchester City has reached a preliminary agreement with Italian coach Enzo Maresca to take over the technical leadership of the team in the coming period, in the event that Spaniard Pep Guardiola leaves his position. According to Italian journalist Nicolo Schira, City's management is preparing to offer Maresca a contract that runs until the summer of 2028, with the option to extend for an additional season, in a move that reflects the club's great confidence in his coaching abilities. The report indicated that Maresca's future with the English champions remains linked to Guardiola's final decision regarding his continued presence at the Etihad Stadium, as the Spanish coach has not yet decided whether to stay or leave after the end of the season. Manchester City's management believes that Maresca is one of the leading candidates to succeed Guardiola, especially since he has previously worked within the Spanish coach's coaching staff and possesses complete knowledge of the club's philosophy and the style of play that the team has relied on in recent years. Maresca is awaiting current developments to decide his future, after having had several important coaching experiences in Europe, whether with Parma or Leicester City, in addition to his recent experience with Chelsea, which boosted his stock as one of the rising coaches on the European scene.
