Alvarez ignites war between Paris and Barcelona

Paris Saint-Germain have expressed strong interest in signing Argentine striker Julián Álvarez, the Atlético Madrid star, during the upcoming summer transfer window, as they look to bolster their attacking options. Álvarez is attracting interest from several major European clubs, most notably Barcelona, who are seeking to strengthen their forward line with the likely departure of Polish striker Robert Lewandowski at the end of the current season. The Argentine striker has also been linked with a return to the English Premier League, with Arsenal reportedly keen to sign him after his impressive performances in Spain. According to Football Espana, PSG plan to make an official move after the season ends to finalize the deal, especially since the French club has been monitoring the player for some time and had previously attempted to sign him when he was close to leaving Manchester City. Álvarez's contract with Atlético Madrid runs until the summer of 2030 and includes a hefty €500 million release clause, although reports suggest the Spanish club will not accept any offer below €100 million. Alvarez had a remarkable season with Atletico Madrid, having participated in 49 matches across all competitions, during which he scored 20 goals and provided 9 assists.
