Allegri is getting closer to the Azzurri throne

Massimiliano Allegri, the current AC Milan manager, is close to taking over as coach of the Italian national team, succeeding Gennaro Gattuso, who left his post after the Azzurri failed to qualify for the 2026 World Cup. According to Calciomercato, Allegri is the leading candidate to coach the national team, especially if Giovanni Malagò wins the presidency of the Italian Football Federation in the upcoming elections. Reports indicate that Malagò enjoys significant support within sporting circles, having secured 18 out of 20 votes at the Italian Football League meeting, thus strengthening his chances of winning the position in the elections scheduled for next June. If appointed, Malagò's top priority would be rebuilding the Italian national team and leading it back to its former glory. This move comes amidst Milan's recent poor results in Serie A, where the team has suffered two consecutive defeats, increasing the pressure on Allegri and raising doubts about the team's ability to qualify for the Champions League next season.
