Benzema scored Real Madrid's goal against Deportivo Alaves in the first minute of the extra time via a penalty kick. The French newspaper, Info Sport, reported that Benzema became the best French scorer in history with one team with 210 goals in the league, surpassing Roger Courtois with 209 goals with the Sochaux team in the French league. The French striker reached 210 goals with Meringue in La Liga during 405 matches, and made 113 assists, since his arrival to the team in the summer of 2009 from Lyon.
