Liverpool repeat the nightmare of 2020

Liverpool suffered an unusually poor Champions League record during their 2-0 defeat to Paris Saint-Germain at the Parc des Princes on Wednesday night in the first leg of their quarter-final tie. Opta statistics revealed that Liverpool failed to register a single shot on target throughout the match, a rare occurrence that highlighted the team's attacking struggles. Opta noted that the last time the Reds failed to register a shot on target in the Champions League was against Atalanta in November 2020, meaning they repeated the feat almost six years later. Desiree Doué opened the scoring early for PSG in the 11th minute with a shot that deceived the Liverpool goalkeeper and found the back of the net. In the second half, Khvica Kvaratskhelia doubled the lead in the 65th minute after a brilliant individual effort, dribbling past the defense and the goalkeeper before slotting the ball into the empty net. The return leg between the two teams is expected to take place next Tuesday evening at Anfield Stadium, where Liverpool will be looking to make up for their loss and secure qualification.
