Mbappe: I dream of a third star with Les Bleus

Kylian Mbappé, captain of the French national team, spoke about his ambitions ahead of the 2026 World Cup, emphasizing his desire to lead "Les Bleus" to their third world title. He said, "My first memories of the World Cup go back to the 2006 edition, which saw the final appearance of a legend like Zinedine Zidane. That tournament was a great source of inspiration for me, despite losing the final." He added, "I'm approaching the tournament very calmly because I now fully understand what it means to play in the World Cup, especially after winning in 2018 and reaching the 2022 final." He continued, "As captain of the national team, I have a great responsibility, especially in helping the young players who will be experiencing it for the first time, and passing on my experience to them both on and off the field." He explained, "The World Cup represents a huge psychological challenge. We play for more than 67 million French people, and we understand the magnitude of the responsibility, but we are ready for it." He stressed, "We will enter the tournament calmly and humbly, but with great ambition to reclaim the title and add a third star to France's collection." Regarding the possibility of breaking Miroslav Klose's record as the all-time top scorer in World Cup history, he said: "That seems unrealistic to me. Just thinking about becoming the all-time top scorer in the World Cup is unbelievable." He concluded: "I prefer to focus on the team's success, how we can help the national team win, and reach the final for the third time in a row."
