Salah is close to breaking Carragher's Champions League record

Egyptian star Mohamed Salah is close to breaking a Liverpool record in the Champions League, as he prepares to face Turkish side Galatasaray. Salah is set to make his 81st appearance in the Champions League group stage and main competitions when he faces Galatasaray in the first leg of the round of 16, breaking former defender Jamie Carragher's record of 80 appearances, not counting qualifying matches. Despite approaching Carragher’s record in the official Champions League, Salah is still far from the record for all European appearances with Liverpool, as he occupies fourth place on the list of players with the most appearances in European competitions with 92 matches, behind Sami Hyypia and Steven Gerrard, while Carragher tops the list with 150 matches in all European competitions.
