Barcelona raises the salary cap for its players
Barcelona's financial flexibility has improved significantly after La Liga updated the salary caps for all clubs following the winter transfer window. According to the official report, the club's wage bill increased from €351.2 million in September to €432.8 million, a rise of €81 million . This brings Barcelona closer to complying with the Financial Fair Play (FFP) 1:1 rule before the summer transfer window opens, easing the pressure on player salaries and giving the club greater flexibility in the market . The report attributes this improvement to several key factors, most notably the renewal of the long-term Spotify sponsorship deal until 2034, which includes shirt rights until 2030 and stadium naming rights until 2034, significantly boosting projected revenue. The partial return of Spotify's Camp Nou stadium also played a crucial role, bringing the club's total budget to €1.075 billion . La Liga has clarified that it is currently fully covering the €100 million cost of licensing 475 VIP seats, divided between Fortia Advisers Ltd. (€30 million) and New Era Visionary Group (€70 million) for a 30-year period. This arrangement has allowed for the registration of players Dani Olmo and Pau Victor, following approval of the full value of the seats by the financial auditor and La Liga . The remaining €42 million payment from New Era Visionary Group is expected next summer, with the club confident that any additional funding should be required, thus strengthening Barcelona's financial stability and management flexibility going forward.
