Arsenal set a new record for corner kicks

Arsenal continued their impressive run from set pieces, setting a new record in their Premier League match against Chelsea on Matchday 28, scoring two goals from corner kicks. The first goal came in the 21st minute when Bukayo Saka delivered a perfect cross to the far post, where Gabriel rose to head it down for William Saliba. Saliba pounced on the loose ball, which deflected off Chelsea defender Mamadou Sarr and into the net. The goal was officially credited to Saliba. In the 66th minute, Arsenal struck again from a corner. Declan Rice's cross was misjudged by goalkeeper Robert Sanchez, allowing Jörgen Timber to tap it in, further cementing the Gunners' dominance in set-piece situations. With these two goals, Arsenal raised its tally to 16 goals from set pieces in the English Premier League this season, equalling the historic record for the competition, which was previously achieved by Oldham in the 1992/1993 season, West Bromwich Albion in 2016/2017, and was also equaled by Arsenal itself in the 2023/2024 season.
