Eriksen returns to action after an 8-month absence

Denmark’s Christian Eriksen celebrated his 30th birthday by participating in a match for the first time since suffering a heart attack on the field last June and setting up a goal in Brentford’s 3-2 win over South End United in a friendly match. Eriksen, who joined Brentford on a free transfer in January, played for an hour eight months after suffering a heart attack at the European Championships 2020.Inter Milan terminated Eriksen’s contract in December after the Italian league refused to participate, as he was developing a special device for restarting the heart known as an implantable defibrillator. The former Tottenham Hotspur player has said he is determined to prove he is still the same player he was before and is not afraid to play with a defibrillator. Brentford is ranked 14th in the English Premier League standings this season with 24 points from 25 games, while Manchester City leads the league with 63 points.
