Simeone reaches a historic achievement in the Spanish League Atletico Madrid, led by Argentine coach Diego Simeone, who was able to snatch an exciting 4-3 victory from its guest, Getafe. This marathon match brought the two at Wanda Metropolitano, as part of the twenty-fourth round of the Spanish League for the current season 2021-2022.
This victory over Getafe gave Atletico Madrid coach Diego Simeone a historic record in the La Liga competition, as he became the most foreign coach to win in the history of the competition with 235 games, surpassing the previous record recorded by the late Czechoslovak coach Ferdinad Dauchek. The 51-year-old Argentine led the Roja Blancos team in 390 matches in the Spanish league, winning 235 matches, losing 60 and drawing in 95 matches, the team scored 651 goals and conceded 292 goals. 
Simeone's first win with Atletico Madrid in the Spanish League was at the expense of his Villarreal team with three clean goals, on January 15, 2012. Atlético Madrid is now fifth in La Liga standings this season with 39 points, equal with Barcelona fourth, while Real Madrid leads with 54 points.
