Real Madrid signs new talent from Atletico
Real Madrid have completed their latest youth signing by acquiring promising 18-year-old defender Aimar García from Atlético Madrid, whose contract recently expired. This is the latest acquisition for Los Blancos from Atlético's academy, following the scouting of the 1.92-meter-tall player, who currently plays for Atlético C in the Tercera Federación league. He has also previously trained with the first team under Argentine coach Diego Simeone . García will begin his second stint with Real Madrid, having spent four years at the La Fábrica academy progressing through the youth and junior ranks. Before that, García played for Rayo Vallecano, then moved to Getafe, where he spent two years before joining Atlético Madrid in 2023. He has played for the Red and Whites for the past three years in the youth ranks. With his contract expiring, Real Madrid seized the opportunity to sign the promising defender, beating out several other top-flight academies that had expressed interest in the young player . Since the expiration of the "non-aggression pact" between Real Madrid and Atlético Madrid regarding academy players, transfers of Atlético players to "La Fábrica" (Atlético's home ground) have become increasingly common in recent years. The list includes players such as Gabriel Castrillo, Ariel Nkoghe, Andrés Corcova, and Sergio Mestre, among others, who moved from Atlético's academy to Real Madrid. The breach of this pact began several years ago with Real Madrid's high-profile signing of Jesús Fortilla, who became a key player for Castilla and one of the most promising talents in Real Madrid's academy . This signing is part of Real Madrid's strategy to strengthen its squad with promising young players and continue to recruit top talent from rival clubs' academies, especially given the growing interest in young talents who could shape the long-term future of the first team.
