Marmoush leads City to League Cup final
Egyptian star Omar Marmoush led his team, Manchester City, to a place in the Carabao Cup final after a well-deserved 3-1 victory over Newcastle United in the second leg of their semi-final tie at the Etihad Stadium on Wednesday evening. Marmoush put City ahead early, opening the scoring in the seventh minute after a brilliant individual effort inside the penalty area, finishing with a clever chip over the Newcastle goalkeeper. The Egyptian international's brilliance didn't stop there, as he doubled the lead in the 29th minute, rising to meet a perfectly placed cross and heading it into the net, confirming Manchester City's dominance of the match. Randers added a third goal in the 32nd minute with a powerful shot from inside the penalty area, giving City a comfortable 3-0 lead at halftime, reflecting the clear difference in quality between the two sides. In the second half, Newcastle pulled a goal back in the 62nd minute through Anthony Illanga, whose superb left-footed strike nestled into the top corner. However, the visitors' efforts to equalize proved fruitless, as City's defense held firm. With this result, Manchester City secured their place in the final with a 5-1 aggregate score, having won the first leg 2-0. Manchester City will now face Arsenal in a highly anticipated Carabao Cup final on March 20th, after the Gunners overcame Chelsea in the semi-finals.
