Ronaldo will miss the Riyadh match... and the reason?
Cristiano Ronaldo is set to miss Al-Nassr's upcoming match against Al-Riyadh, scheduled for Monday in the Saudi Professional League. His absence is not related to technical or physical reasons, but rather reflects a sense of dissatisfaction within the club . According to the Portuguese newspaper A Bola, the Al-Nassr captain's exclusion from the match is not due to player rotation or preparation for the upcoming Al-Ittihad game, but rather stems from his growing frustration with the club's management, specifically by the Saudi Public Investment Fund (PIF) . The newspaper indicated that Ronaldo believes Al-Nassr has not received sufficient investment compared to rival clubs with similar ownership structures. This was clearly reflected in the recent winter transfer window, during which the club made only one signing: the young Iraqi midfielder Haider Abdul-Karim (21 years old) . The Portuguese star's discontent is further amplified when comparing Al-Nassr's situation to that of their rivals, Al-Hilal, who were much more active in the transfer market, having already acquired Spanish defender Pablo Mari from Fiorentina for €2 million and preparing to pay around €30 million to sign Rennes striker Kader Meite. Al-Hilal has also recently been linked with a possible move for Karim Benzema, in addition to progressing in negotiations to sign French Under-21 international Simon Bouabre in another deal estimated at around €30 million . On the administrative front, Al-Nassr has witnessed escalating internal tensions following the board's decision to suspend the powers of sporting director Simão Coutinho and CEO José Semedo earlier this month, a move Ronaldo believes has negatively impacted the club's stability and leadership . This is not the first crisis of its kind, as coach Jorge Jesus previously stated last January that Al-Nassr "does not possess the political influence that Al-Hilal has," remarks that sparked widespread controversy within Saudi football circles.
