The winter transfer window in the Qatari league closed on the evening of January 31st, coinciding with the release of a comprehensive report by FIFA covering transfer activity across various federations and leagues worldwide. The report revealed striking figures reflecting the significant activity in the Qatari football market. The international report highlighted the prominent position of the Qatar Stars League on the Asian stage, ranking second in terms of the number of deals completed by clubs from the start of the season until the final moments of the winter transfer window. This clearly indicates the remarkable activity of Qatari clubs and their continuous efforts to strengthen their squads with high-quality players. Qatar's dominance wasn't limited to the number of signings; it extended to the amount spent. FIFA ranked the Qatar Stars League second in Asia in terms of the financial value allocated to signing professional players, with total expenditures reaching $129 million, surpassing several strong leagues on the continent. The report highlighted Al-Duhail and Al-Sadd, who entered the list of Asia's highest-spending clubs during the transfer window, ranking seventh and eighth respectively on the continent. This confirms their continued strong presence in the transfer market and their constant pursuit of maintaining their competitive standing both domestically and continentally. Al-Ahli strengthened its ranks with Nigerian defender William Troost-Ekbal, a move aimed at bolstering the back line following the departure of Serbian defender Aleksandar Mitrovic. Al-Shamal attracted attention by signing Algerian international Adam Ounas, while Al-Gharafa reinforced its squad with the addition of Atias Norman, and Qatar SC announced the signing of Jordanian Nizar Al-Rashdan to strengthen its midfield. Al Arabi made a notable attacking move by signing Cameroonian striker Karl Toko Ekambi to replace Jordanian Yazan Al Naimat, as the club seeks to bolster its attacking options for the second half of the season. Similarly, Al Wakrah secured a high-profile signing of Spaniard Luis Alberto, while Umm Salal acquired Senegalese defender Abdou Diallo from Al Arabi. Al Sailiya also made a strong showing in the transfer market, announcing the signing of Englishman Mason Holgate from Al Gharafa, along with Jordanian Ali Alwan and Moroccan Younes Belhanda from Al Shamal, in a series of acquisitions aimed at strengthening the team across all positions.
