Renard publishes a book revealing the secrets of Africa

Frenchman Hervé Renard, the head coach of the Saudi Arabian national football team, recently released his autobiography, "I Am Football... Africa," in which he recounts his journey and rich experience on the African continent. Through his official X account, Renard revealed the book's contents, which highlight significant chapters from his coaching career that included stints with various African clubs and national teams, such as Morocco, Zambia, and Ivory Coast. Renard is considered one of the most prominent coaches to have left a clear mark on the history of African football, having won the Africa Cup of Nations twice with two different national teams – an achievement that distinguishes him as a unique coach on the continent. Following his African successes, the French coach moved to Saudi Arabian football, where he achieved a major upset by leading the Saudi national team to victory over Argentina, led by Lionel Messi, in the 2022 World Cup, raising the expectations of fans. It is worth noting that Renard returned to lead the Saudi national team for the second time, succeeding Italian Roberto Mancini, aiming to continue their success and leave a new mark at the 2026 World Cup. The book also recounts Renard's life as a young player at French club Cannes, where he played alongside legends like Zinedine Zidane and Didier Deschamps. However, he faced obstacles that prevented him from achieving his dream of becoming a professional, leading him into a challenging period. During this time, Renard founded a cleaning company and worked in the field himself to ensure its success, before gradually returning to coaching and embarking on his coaching career step by step. The book also details the various stages of his career, including his experiences with French clubs and the French women's national team, where he faced setbacks and difficult times, but which he used to develop himself and return stronger. In this work, Renard shares with his readers the valuable lessons he learned from football, not only technically, but also in leadership and dealing with life's challenges, reflecting a clear and honest vision of his personal and professional journey.
