Chelsea seeks to break the Brazilian knot in the Club World Cup final

Chelsea aspires to win the FIFA Club World Cup for the first time in its history, after reaching the final in the current edition, which is currently being held in UAE, Abu Dhabi. Chelsea saved difficult victory over its Saudi counterpart Al-Hilal with a clean goal in the semi-finals yesterday, Wednesday, at Mohammed bin Zayed Stadium in Al Jazira Club.
The Blues, led by Chelsea boss Thomas Tuchel, fear a repeat of the 2012 scenario when they lost the final against a Brazilian team, Corinthians, with a clean goal, in the version hosted by Japan.
The English clubs faced their Brazilian counterparts in the Club World Cup final in 3 matches, where the Brazilian clubs won two matches against one victory for English clubs.
It was the first encounter that brought together the English and Brazilian clubs in the Club World Cup final, when Sao Paulo beat Liverpool 1-0 in 2005. In the second confrontation Corinthians beat Chelsea 1-0, and the only victory for English clubs was through Liverpool in 2019 at the expense of Flamengo 1 - 0.
