Barcelona rival Liverpool for Atalanta star
Barcelona have officially entered the race to sign Atalanta's Brazilian midfielder, Ederson, who is enjoying one of his best seasons in Serie A and has become one of the most sought-after players this summer as his contract enters its penultimate year. According to Caught Offside, Liverpool had previously expressed interest in the player, but Barcelona have emerged as strong contenders, making him a priority for strengthening their midfield next season. Barcelona's interest in Ederson comes at the recommendation of renowned agent Andre Cury, who has close ties to the Catalan club and previously played a key role in deals involving players like Paulinho and Arturo Vidal. He also represents Brazilian Estevão, who moved to Chelsea. Sporting director Deco believes Ederson would be a valuable addition to the team thanks to his experience, technical ability, and versatility in playing multiple midfield positions, especially after making over 150 appearances for Atalanta. Despite Barcelona's serious interest, the financial factor may represent the biggest obstacle in the deal, as the player is valued at around 45 million euros, an amount that falls within the capabilities of Premier League clubs, such as Liverpool, but it poses a major challenge for Barcelona in light of its current financial crisis.
