Did he receive an offer from Saudi Arabia? Deschamps reveals
Didier Deschamps, the French national team coach, revealed that he received an offer from a Saudi club in recent months, indicating that his future after the 2026 World Cup could see him take a new challenge outside of Europe. Speaking to the French program "Téléfoot," Deschamps said, "Yes, there were talks with a Saudi club, but my position is well-known, and when I make a decision, I don't change it." The 55-year-old French coach explained that he plans to end his tenure with "Les Bleus" after the 2026 World Cup, noting that all options will be open afterward, including a club-level coaching role. Deschamps firmly denied rumors linking him to Juventus or the Brazilian national team, saying, "I will not return to Juventus, and I will not coach any other national team. The French national anthem means a great deal to me." He affirmed that the Saudi league is witnessing remarkable development, praising his former player N'Golo Kanté's experience at Al-Ittihad, adding, "Kanté is performing brilliantly there, and the level of competition is constantly improving." It appears that Deschamps, who led France to the 2018 World Cup title and to the 2022 final, is close to turning the page on the national team after more than a decade in charge, while leaving the door open for a new challenge that could be in the Middle East.
