Rooney: Mohamed Salah is not helping his team

Liverpool's heavy 3-0 defeat to Manchester City at the Etihad Stadium in the Premier League has highlighted the underwhelming performances of several Reds players, most notably Egyptian star Mohamed Salah. The loss leaves Arne Slott's side in eighth place ahead of the international break, while Erling Haaland, Nico Gonzalez, and Jeremy Doku scored City's goals . Manchester United legend Wayne Rooney openly criticized Salah's performance during a BBC appearance. Rooney said, "Salah is an important part of the team for scoring goals and creating chances. He's been one of the best players in the league in recent years, but in big games, he needs to perform at a higher level." Speaking about Salah's defensive contributions, Rooney added, "You have to track back and help your teammate. Conor Bradley had a very difficult game and was left isolated. Gravenberch tried to support him as much as possible, and that created more gaps. I think Salah should have tracked back and defended more." Rooney questioned the Egyptian player's commitment on the pitch, saying, "When things are going great and you're scoring goals, the team might overlook these details, but this week I've started to doubt his work ethic." He concluded by emphasizing that Salah needs to show double the effort if he wants to regain his usual impact on the field.
