Another blow for Morocco ahead of the Africa Cup of Nations
The Moroccan national team suffered another blow just weeks before the start of the 2025 Africa Cup of Nations, which will be hosted by Morocco. French media reports revealed that Nayef Aguerd, the Marseille defender, was forced to leave his team's match against Brest, which ended in a 3-0 victory for the latter, due to a groin injury. This has raised serious concerns about his potential absence from the continental tournament. Marseille coach Roberto De Zerbi emphasized the seriousness of the injury, warning that it could deprive the Moroccan national team of Aguerd's services, a significant loss for both the club and the national team. The reports added that injuries to two prominent players in the "Atlas Lions" squad, Achraf Hakimi and Nayef Aguerd, at such a crucial time, are increasing the anxiety of fans and the Moroccan sporting community. Hakimi is currently recovering from a muscle injury sustained while playing for Paris Saint-Germain, which has required him to undergo an intensive rehabilitation program aimed at returning to competition as soon as possible.
